The full frame size is approximately 24' x 38', with a living area of 24' x 24', bathroom and bedroom areas measuring 24' x 14', with a loft floor and staircase landing of 24' x 16'. A small useable loft area is developed by the use of queen-post trussing over the bedroom and bathroom sections to provide an 8' wide stand-up space the length of the loft. The ceiling panels provide both an insulated membrane over the bedrooms and bath areas as well as a structural flooring diaphragm for the loft. The edges of the loft area are useable additionally as attic or storage space. The total useable living (standup) space within the main axis only, measures approximately 1100 sq ft. An interior cross-house stave-wall provides a frame work for the loft staircase and landing area (not shown), while separating the living and sleeping areas from each other. The small addition at left was utilized to make the connection to the existing hand-crafted dovetail log home, which was built in 1980. Refer to the web site photos on pages 1 through 6 to learn how this latest Stavehouse structure was both fabricated and installed. |
