This single story Stavehouse, with 9/12 pitch (37 deg) roof framing, has SIP gables trussing, SIP roofing and SIP wall panel in-filling between the wall staves. The trussing consists of gable units which may be have window openings cut into the panels as required, king post units with ledgers over the bedroom section, with typical scissor trusses over the cathedral areas & front entry. The central axis frame is approximately 24' x 42' (1000 sq ft) and is used as living, dining & kitchen space, all open to the panelled ceiling. The side wings were utilized for bedroom and bathroom space, each approximately 24' x 24' (590 sq ft each) for a total main floor area of just under 2200 sq ft. One of the side wings could easily have been developed as a two-car garage space. Pre-finished roof SIP's cover the exposed trussing in the main living area, whereas the ceiling panels over the bedroom wings was dropped to the level of the lower chord of the trussing covering these areas. The roofing over the wings could be supplied in heavy timber trussing and SIP's, or it could be stick-framed on the site, or factory trussed, depending on owner requirements. The wall in-filling utilized Nascor foam-core panels, which were installed following the raising of the wall timbering. These R-20 EPS panels, which came with a 2" x 4" edge frame, were screwed in place between the posts, rather than slipped over splines before the wall plate was installed. The structure has a full basement beneath the main axis only, devoted to heating, ventilating, mechanical, recreation and other typical basement uses. |
